Dipsea is a very small team of creatives working hard to make the highest-quality audio erotica we can. We've always held ourselves to a high standard, both in what we make and in how we make it. That means finding exceptional voice actors and writers, collaborating closely with them, and paying them fairly.
As AI content floods the market and the line between what's "real" and what's "not" becomes harder to distinguish, being transparent about this choice feels critical. We experimented with AI voices and AI-generated art in limited ways. But we've made an important decision: we're stopping entirely. Ultimately, we’ve decided that we aren’t comfortable with any use of AI in our content and are removing and replacing any content made with AI we’ve already published.
We believe that the inherent human-ness of intimacy is what makes it so powerful. It's complicated and messy, just like all of us. At Dipsea, it's those very tiny, human details that make our stories feel magically alive. It's the extra turn of phrase a writer adds in at the last minute, or the hitch in a voice actor's breath midway through a recording, that always seems to elevate a story from hot into something truly erotic.
We also believe great creative work deserves fair pay. Our commitment to working with exceptional creatives and compensating them properly is central to who we are. Using AI to replace creative labor doesn't align with that ethos.
If you want to learn more, here's the full story of how we made this choice as a team. Thanks for reading, subscribing, and listening. We really do love hearing your feedback and working to make our app the best possible experience.
We have an ambitious mission, we make something unique in the world, and the number one thing our listeners ask for is more. More of their favorite series, more wellness content, more overheads, more Plus Yous, more ways to explore and expand their desire. We partnered with some of our top voice actors to create virtual voices so we could make more content with listener-favorite characters. We used AI for some story art so we could put more resources toward script and audio creation.
Scripts: Our stories have never been written by or with AI. Our scripts have always been written and edited by real people.
Audio: A small portion of our library (less than 3% of 1,200+ original stories) used AI voice simulation created in partnership with our actors.
From the beginning, we approached this as a collaboration. Actors decided how their voice would be used and were compensated with an upfront fee to create a virtual version of their voice and an ongoing monthly retainer for continued licensed use. Creating a virtual voice did not replace in-person recording. We continued to cast, record, and collaborate with these same actors in our studio, just as we always did.
All AI-voiced content has been clearly labeled with a "Virtual Voice" tag in the app. Here's the full list:
Wings of Winter Audiobook
Pinedale Falls Audiobook
Wicked Words Audiobook
Pride & Prejudice Audiobook
Art: 204 pieces of art out of 1,200+ were made with AI. We're working with artists now to redo these pieces and looking to connect with more artists. In Q2 we will be hiring an Artist-in-Residence to help with our growing art needs. Know any outstanding artists? Please send them our way using this form
By the end of June 2026, all AI-voiced audio will be removed from the app or re-recorded with human actors and all AI-generated art will be replaced with work by human artists. Want an update on when we’re done with that process? We’ll be updating this post on a monthly basis with our progress. We’re also actively looking for more artists to work with. If you’re an artist or graphic designer you can submit your portfolio here.
