Just like sexuality, sleep is precious and powerful. From the beginning, we’ve created safe, immersive stories that break down the walls to accessing your sexuality. Now we also offer immersive content designed to wind you down rather than turn you on. So after you listen to a sexy story, you can put on a sleep scene, suspend your state of pleasure, and find restful sleep more easily.
The development of Sleep by Dipsea has been a long time coming. We began including more aftercare into our stories after hearing that you wanted more time to wind down at the end of an episode. Now after a sex scene ends, a character might make a cup of tea, or offer a back rub. Sleep by Dipsea is an even more intentional exhale. We’re closing the loop on your whole bedtime routine – maybe even helping you create a new one.
Over the last two years, we saw that most people were listening to Dipsea at bedtime, between 9pm and 1am. We also knew that 30% of our listeners were coming to us specifically when they couldn’t fall asleep. Every night we’re already invited under duvets, tucked under pillows, placed on nightstands. So we asked ourselves, why not stay with our listeners for longer?
We did our research, and were shocked by what we found. Did you know over half of adults struggle to fall asleep on a regular basis? And that women are almost twice as likely to experience this struggle than men?
When we asked our Instagram followers if they had trouble sleeping, those statistics really came to life. More than half of you said you have trouble falling and staying asleep, and 60% of you said that it often takes more than 15 minutes to doze off. All that means a whopping 76% of you feel tired throughout the day. And over half of you said the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even harder to get rest (yup, that checks out!).
But you know what’s really interesting? Most people say they have better sleep after masturbating. And for good reason. When you have an orgasm, you release hormones like serotonin, vasopressin, endorphins, oxytocin, norepinephrine – all little signals from your brain that you’re allowed to chill. So what better way to end a ménage à moi than by seamlessly queuing sleep sounds right after, or by choosing an immersive bedtime story or scene designed by the talented Dipsea production team.

Sleep Overs let you fall asleep in the presence of characters you know and love. You can get tucked in by Mark, the yoga instructor, James the professor, or Emmy the masseuse, and then drift off while they stay near. Sleep Overs are all about comfort and closeness. Think back to when you were younger when you might have felt comforted by the sound of family in the next room while you drifted off, or the times you’ve napped while a partner or friend was working in the next room. Sleep Overs offer that same sense of cozy with some of your favorite Dipsea characters.
Bedtime Stories are sensual, mellow, narrative stories designed to relax you instead of turn you on. They’re the closest to what people have come to expect from Dipsea, but rather than being hot and heavy, these are sleepy stories with just enough plot to let your mind meander.
Soundscapes are soothing and familiar sounds designed to help you drift into sleep. Imagine a cabin fireplace or a cozy rainstorm. In the app, you can even queue these Soundscapes after a story, in intervals of 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Or, if you prefer, you can access them via the Sleep tab and play them on their own.
After a long day, it’s far too easy to let our most personal and intimate time be invaded by the world at large – especially now, when our homes have become our offices, our restaurants, our meeting spaces, and our vacation spots. It can be difficult to pull ourselves away.
