The Sapphic Heated Rivalry You've Been Asking For

Create the Sapphic Heated Rivalry You Wish to See in the World

Like most of our community (and the wider world, ha) team Dipsea went absolutely feral over Heated Rivalry. The queer joy! The hot af, messy, human, consent-forward sexual encounters! The hockey! (Well, idk how much we cared about the hockey itself, but you get the point.) We love a sexy queer story that breaks stereotypes, celebrates the characters’ complex humanity, and portrays queerness in many of the vibrant, diverse ways it shows up in the world. And Ilya’s butt. I mean, c’mon. But why should the guys get to have all the fun? We immediately thought, wow, a sapphic Heated Rivalry would be amazing. And judging by the internet, many of you agreed.

So we got to work. And just in time for Pride Month listening, it’s here. Introducing Fire & Ice!!!

Non-binary hockey player Sasha and high-femme ice princess Winnie were once teammates and secret lovers at the University of Wisconsin, until a devastating on-ice injury during their freshman year tore them apart. Now, nearly a decade later, they're professional stars, rivals (ahem)…and one of them has just been traded to the other’s team.

You can expect smoldering tension, long-buried feelings, and an extra-hot sauna session where things hit a boiling point.

Fire & Ice 1

You can listen to the first installment of our sapphic Heated Rivalry tribute, Fire & Ice, NOW on the Dipsea app, and part 2 drops on June 19th.

Want more after listening? You can explore our other queer contemporary audio dramas (and more!) on the Dipsea app. If you loved Fire & Ice, we think you’ll love The Detour, written by Meryl Wilsner, author of iconic F/F reads like Cleat Cute and Mistakes Were Made.

In The Detour, Alex embarks on a road trip to escape her hometown and leave her past behind. But when her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, she’s rescued by a sweet-talking local mechanic named Sierra. They go back to Sierra’s repair shop and Alex watches her work from the dusty old couch. And as the hot summer night swelters on, Alex finds her initial icy resistance to Sierra melting away.

Happy Pride, y’all! As always, let us know what you think, and what you want more of. We’re always listening and working behind the scenes.

Love, Team Dipsea
